Today, I’d like to talk about “Hotel MiraCosta,” which is said to be the most difficult hotel to book in Japan. I’ll share my experience from staying there in 2024!

Tokyo Disney Resort Has Six Official Hotels

Currently, Tokyo Disney Resort has six official hotels. Among them, only two hotels have direct access to the park:

• Hotel MiraCosta
• Fantasy Springs Hotel (Opened in 2024)

Both of these hotels are directly connected to Tokyo DisneySea. However, there are no hotels directly connected to Tokyo Disneyland.

Official hotels allow guests to fully immerse themselves in the world of the park and offer exclusive benefits such as early entry before the general opening time. As a result, all of them are quite popular.

However, due to their convenience and the ability to enjoy park views from the rooms, the two hotels mentioned above are overwhelmingly popular and known for being extremely difficult to book.

Hotel MiraCosta Stands Out as the Most Luxurious

Now, let me explain why MiraCosta is considered the most luxurious hotel at Tokyo Disney Resort!

1. Enjoy the Night Show at the Harbor Without Entering the Park

Hotel MiraCosta is located right in front of Tokyo DisneySea’s iconic harbor.

This means that guests staying in harbor-facing rooms or certain areas within the hotel can enjoy the night show held at the harbor.

Being able to watch the show from the comfort of a prime viewing spot inside the hotel—without even entering the park—is a privilege unique to MiraCosta.

By the way, Fantasy Springs is located away from the harbor, so guests at that hotel cannot watch the show from their rooms.

2. Observe the Park Before Opening and After Closing

Personally, I find this to be one of the most exciting aspects of staying at MiraCosta.

Isn’t it thrilling to be able to see the park before it opens or after it closes?

Since MiraCosta is located at the entrance of Tokyo DisneySea, you can observe the flow of people entering and leaving the park, which is quite fascinating. Additionally, after closing time, you might catch a glimpse of cast members performing security checks and behind-the-scenes operations, giving you a special feeling of exclusivity.

If you’re lucky, you may even witness early morning show rehearsals. This is especially likely right before major event seasons, adding even more value to your stay.

3. Take Breaks in Your Room Even After Entering the Park

Since Hotel MiraCosta is located inside Tokyo DisneySea, you can easily return to your room for a break after enjoying the park.

This is particularly beneficial for families with young children or those visiting during the hot summer months.

Additionally, MiraCosta offers a 12:00 PM checkout, which is later than standard hotels. This allows you to experience popular attractions right after the park opens and then return to your room for a break, making for a more enjoyable and efficient day at the park.

4. Take Advantage of Happy Entry

Hotel guests can use the exclusive Happy Entry privilege to enter the park 15 minutes earlier than general visitors.

With Happy Entry, you can ride popular attractions in the morning with little to no wait. This benefit is especially valuable for attractions near MiraCosta, such as Toy Story Mania and Soaring: Fantastic Flight.

Additionally, for Disney Premier Access (a paid service), the earlier you enter the park, the better your chances of securing your preferred time slot.

However, when using Disney Premier Access for Fantasy Springs attractions, there are some drawbacks. For more details, please check the Disadvantages section.

5. A Luxurious Hotel Experience on Its Own

MiraCosta isn’t just an extension of the Disney Resort—it’s a high-end, luxurious hotel in its own right.

With its elegant, sophisticated interior design and attention to detail in every aspect, MiraCosta offers a refined and comfortable stay. This makes it a great choice for those who want to enjoy a luxurious hotel experience in addition to the Disney magic.

The Drawbacks of Staying at MiraCosta

If you’re planning to enjoy Tokyo DisneySea’s Fantasy Springs area, especially its newly opened attractions in 2024, MiraCosta may not be the best choice.

This is because MiraCosta is quite far from the Fantasy Springs area.

It takes about 12 to 13 minutes to walk from MiraCosta to Fantasy Springs, which is roughly the same distance as walking across the entire Tokyo DisneySea park.

Once you enter Fantasy Springs, returning to MiraCosta for a quick break won’t be as convenient.

So, whether you should stay at MiraCosta or Fantasy Springs Hotel depends on how you plan to enjoy the park.

If you want to focus on experiencing the new attractions in Fantasy Springs, stay at Fantasy Springs Hotel.

If you want to enjoy the night show, Toy Story Mania, Soarin’, and other attractions near the park entrance, MiraCosta is the better choice!

Pricing

The cost of staying at MiraCosta varies significantly depending on the room type and season.

During my stay in 2024, I booked a Porto Paradiso Side Superior Room (Harbor View), which offers a clear view of the harbor. The price for this room was around 85,000 yen per night.

There are also rooms that do not have a harbor view or only offer a partial view, and these tend to be more affordable.

However, since a significant part of MiraCosta’s appeal is its direct view of the harbor, I highly recommend booking a harbor-view room even if it’s more expensive.

For Japanese guests, the price may seem quite high, but due to the current weak yen, this could be a great time for international tourists to stay at MiraCosta at a relatively good value.
