Stay at Yutorelo Nikko: A Unique All-Inclusive Hotel by Lake Chuzenji

ishiiemi728@gmail.com

Hello! I’m Koromi, sharing travel tips and experiences for visitors to Japan.

This time, I stayed at Yutorelo Nikko with my kids.

If I had to describe this hotel in one sentence:

“A casual hotel where both social butterflies and solo travelers can enjoy their own ideal style of stay.”

It was such a unique and interesting hotel, and I’d love to share what made it so special!

Located just a short walk from the Chuzenji Cruise Terminal

The hotel is located about an hour by bus from Tobu Nikko Station, right near the Chuzenji Cruise Terminal.

It’s situated in an upscale area where luxury hotels like The Ritz-Carlton and KAI Nikko are found, and it’s within walking distance of the famous Kegon Falls, making it a convenient base for sightseeing.

Since the hotel sits along the shore of Lake Chuzenji, you can enjoy beautiful lakeside views right from the property.

Unlike the surrounding luxury hotels, Yutorelo Nikko offers a more casual and relaxed stay.

There’s even a dormitory option, making it perfect for budget-conscious travelers!

Self Check-In System

From the outside, Yutorelo Nikko looks like a fairly typical, slightly dated hotel.

Let’s go ahead and check in!

Yutorelo Nikko check-in counter

Check-in at Yutorelo Nikko is fully self-service.
There’s a kiosk near the entrance where you complete the check-in process yourself.
Personally, I find long explanations and overly polite check-in procedures a bit stressful, so I really appreciated the efficiency of this system.

There’s also a staffed counter right next to the kiosk where you can borrow items like charging cables 🔌.

By the way, the staff member I spoke with was quick and to the point—there was no over-the-top hospitality, but it was a smooth and stress-free experience, which I honestly prefer.☺️

Right in front of the reception counter, there’s a cozy irori-style hearth area, where they held a fun marshmallow roasting event in the evening!

Plenty of Cozy Hideaway Spaces for Any Mood

Yutorelo Nikko has incredibly well-designed common areas ✨
What I loved most was how the layout lets you control your level of interaction with others—it’s all about comfort and freedom!

Let’s start with the Lake Lounge, where you can enjoy peaceful views of Lake Chuzenji 🌳👇

Gently Swaying in a Hammock

In the Lake Lounge, you’ll find cozy hammocks where both adults and kids can relax and unwind.

You can enjoy a quiet moment reading a book or even take a little nap while gently swaying in the hammock.

Online reviews mentioned that this hotel is fun for both kids and adults—but to be honest, the atmosphere here felt more like a laid-back space designed with adults in mind.

My kids got a little too excited and started using it like a play area, and one of the guests who was already there quietly left… I felt a bit bad about that. 💦

② Semi-Private Hexagon Booths

Also located in the Lake Lounge are cozy, hexagon-shaped semi-private booths.

Once you’re inside, the surrounding view is gently blocked out, making it the perfect spot when you want a bit of quiet. It’s a compact space, but it feels just right for some peaceful alone time.

The free drink area offers a selection of beverages and snacks.

And guess what? There’s alcohol included!

Since Yutorelo Nikko is an all-inclusive hotel, alcoholic drinks are also complimentary—how generous is that? ✨

There are also some light snacks available, making it a great spot to unwind alone in the evening.

③ Cozy Reading Nook: “Okomori Library”

There’s even a quiet reading space called the Okomori Library, perfect for those who want to relax and dive into a good book in peace.

Yutorelo Nikko Seclusion Library

Having a spacious, well-separated area like this to distance yourself from others during your trip—it’s just the best, isn’t it?

This reading space seems to be part of the dormitory zone, which has been partially converted into the library area.

It’s hard to tell from the photos, but the dormitory itself is also quite spacious. 🛌

Near the dormitory, you’ll find shared showers, sinks, and a small free-use area. It seems to be especially popular among international travelers.

Shared Spaces for Group Fun

In contrast to the quiet okomori spaces perfect for solo time, Yutorelo Nikko also offers areas designed for groups to have fun together.

There’s even a ping pong table! 🏓

There’s a whole shelf full of board games ♟️

You can pick out any game that interests you and take it back to your room to enjoy at your own pace.

It’s amazing how many different ways you can spend your time at this hotel!

All Rooms with a Lake View

Every guest room offers a stunning view of Lake Chuzenji through the window.

The layout is simple, with a tatami area and a bed area arranged lengthwise.

The tatami space is also perfect for families with babies—it adds a touch of comfort and flexibility.

There’s nothing flashy or extravagant to create a sense of luxury, but everything feels clean and thoughtfully maintained—making for a truly comfortable stay.

A Satisfying Dinner with the Joy of Free Alcohol Again

Dinner was also highly satisfying, with delicious dishes that were a feast for both the eyes and the palate.

The dining area also had a drink bar, and once again, alcohol was free!
I was able to enjoy a drink casually while relaxing and taking my time 🍷

Summary

If I were to describe this hotel as a person, it would be:

Someone who gets the job done efficiently, without being pushy, and with no interest in personal gain.

The service here is practical and precise, and I felt something refreshingly unique about it.

The design prioritizes guest comfort, but without the pushy “hospitality” feeling or any self-promotion. It’s a hotel with a kind of “selfless gentleness” that I found very endearing.
